Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an afterthought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.
This round: Emma Armstrong
I met Emma at one of the Agile Alliance conferences several years ago. There are people you meet that you just feel an instant connection with. Emma was one of them for me. And I could go on and on about all the ways that this beautiful soul shows up but I’m going to focus on how she showed up at Agile2023.
As the conference chair, Emma had a ton of plates to carry. Yet, there she was showing up for so many in a variety of ways. She made time to check in on friends with injuries. She made time to help address issues while considering autonomy and feelings. She challenged herself and others with a little flash mob dancing. She comforted those that needed a minute. She celebrated those that were flying high. She made space for people to shine. She appreciated people for their efforts. She joined in the laughter and crazy. She helped setup sessions. She helped document things. She tracked down people. She connected others. She was vulnerable and strong. She was caring and considerate.
I appreciate you and continue to be inspired by you. Thank you!
