Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an afterthought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.
This round: Dan Wyks
As usual, I’m not very good at remembering my first interaction. So much of those theories about lasting first impressions. But I can spend time really appreciating Dan for this past year. Dan and I both joined the Agile Denver Board of Directors when there was a full hand over to a new board of seven people. To say that my life has been better and easier with Dan’s teamwork the last year… well would not being doing him justice enough.
- He freely shared his wisdom, knowledge and history to help us focus. I genuinely believe we would not have been able to get as much done as we did this year, without his past knowledge. From where are post box was, to accessing the storage shed, to explaining previous processes, etc. So so valuable.
- As a lover of a checkmark, I have a deep appreciation for anyone that is a “get shit done” type of person. Dan is that and more. He was so quick to volunteer. He always followed through on this tasks. He exemplified dependability that just cannot be appreciated enough.
- Not only did he execute known items, he actively sought opportunities and challenges that we should address. From events to sponsor to figuring out ways to invest our accounts. He helped innovate and inspired us to act.
- Then as if this all wasn’t enough as a teammate, he made himself available and responsive. We ran at full speed to get MHA reboot in May, that meant a lot of financial aspects with extremely quick responses helped. Everyone (including myself) couldn’t express enough how wonderful Dan was in his service to everyone as the treasurer.
Dan definitely sets the bar high as a teammate and leader. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to work along side of him the past year. Agile Denver and I are thankful for you.
I truly wish him all the best.
