One of my clients recently inquired about this and I thought maybe publicly sharing might be beneficial.
“What materials do you typically have to aid in training both in-person and virtually?”
For virtual, generally:
- Computer
- Online collaboration tool (I’ve been using Miro)
- Visual/Audio communication tool (I’ve been using Zoom)
- Ipad and pencil (for drawing live online)
- For my advanced trainings: ship each participant the workbook/handouts, pen, sharpie, post-it pad, and any other needed materials.
- Timing sheet (overall timeboxes and flow of the training) and setup guide (what I need to start, permissions, etc)
- For brand new trainings: Facilitation guide (indicating activity prompts, etc.) Note – I only use these until the training is solid
- Water/Snack/Kleenex
For in-person, generally:
- Computer
- Projector (if I have slides, videos to show) & clicker
- Flip chart pads (many of them)
- Fancy markers that make me happy
- Each participant: workbook/handouts, pen, sharpie, and other needed materials.
- For each table: post-it pads, extra pens, and sharpies, fidget toys, and other needed materials per that training.
- Timing sheet (overall timeboxes and flow of the training) and setup guide (what I need to prepare, show, etc)
- For brand new trainings: Facilitation guide (indicating activity prompts, etc.) Note – I only use these until the training is solid
- Water/Snack/Kleenex/Sanitizer
- Snacks and Beverages for participants
- Masks will be added to this list (if and when I can do in-person again)
