Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an afterthought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.
This round: Derek Turner
For over 20 years, Derek is a close personal friend. He was the best man at our wedding, the godfather to our children and still the best Euchre partner I’ve ever had. So clearly, I have many many things to be grateful for regarding our relationship.
I’m focusing this appreciation post on a recent request. As Ignite Insight + Innovation was forming in my head, I could see the logo mentally but didn’t have the talent and skills to bring the logo into reality. After a few sad attempts, I reached out to beg my friend to help me out despite his workload and other responsibilities. Without hesitation, Derek agreed.
When he texted me the logo, that was the moment that I knew this was real and happening. That everything came together and felt perfect. I immediately loved the flame, font, and style. Yet, there was another dynamic that made this super special. Now I should have expected this but honestly, I didn’t think about in advance. Someone I love and has been such a big part of my life all these years also contributed to this company. His ability and heart are part of my logo right along with my original idea. In hindsight, obviously, Derek was the only right choice.
If you are lucky, friends become family. I’m forever grateful for you (and our families).
