I’ve set my schedule for public trainings and speaking in 2019.
Leading Amazing Teams: Denver, San Francisco, Chicago dates
While we want teams to solve many of their own challenges, leaders play a critical part in this process by helping teams continue to improve and develop. Great leaders engage with people and teams to address issues like conflict head-on, helping teams find ways to gain from conflict and improve. They don’t have the luxury of telling teams “you are empowered” and walking away – they must do ‘just enough’ to help teams thrive. This requires leaders to have the awareness and protocols in place to know when they might be limiting the team.
Training from the BACK of the Room: Denver, CO
If you train, coach, lead meetings or facilitate groups, take your skills to an advanced level, regardless of the complexity of topics, size of the class, or level of learners. Training skills are not only for people that teach multi-day courses or at schools; training is a part of leadership. Gaining these skills increases the quality and volume of collaboration, engagement and retention within teams. Note: I only provide this public course once a year.
Certified ScrumMaster: Denver, CO
I only do one Agile For All public CSM a year. This is the course if you want to really understand the Scrum Framework. Personally, I spend additional time diving into how to stop the ScrumMaster role becoming just an administrative role vs beginning the journey of leading agile teams.
Advanced Certified ScrumMaster: Denver, CO and Ann Arbor, MI
This is our new course offering. This is the course if you want to level up your facilitation skills. ScrumMasters are a crucial role in helping teams improve, yet they help in more subtle and lasting ways then telling people what to do by positional power. One of the key challenges is learning how to help bring people together to deliver value, without taking ownership. Bringing people together goes beyond getting consensus, getting to collaboration means tapping into the knowledge and wisdom of the entire team.
Agile Alliance Agile2109: Washington DC
This year I will be a Stalwart speaker! What’s a stalwart?
Beyond the foundations, there are strong pillars upon which the successes of the Agile methods are built. These pillars include both the ideas guiding interactions between people and teams, and the voices of those spreading their meaning and importance. The Stalwarts track is our venue for bringing together thought leaders with our attendees in a setting that promotes small conversations. Each session will provide an intimate setting where you, and potentially a few dozen of your peers, will have the opportunity to have 1-1 conversations with an expert and ask them about their ideas and experiences.
In addition, I will be running Presentation Karaoke with Jake Calabrese this year (Arlo Belshee will be present as well but already had two speaking slots at the conference). What is presentation karaoke? See this post.
I hope our paths cross soon!
