Several months ago, the Agile For All team was inspired by Peter Saddington’s experiments. We decided right there to experiment with livestreaming as Agile For All. Every Friday at 9 am, we go live based on a topic. I’m not going to speak for Agile For All as a whole, I want to do this post about my reflections on this experiment.
Random thoughts:
- I really do not have fear about being in front of people. However, I was at one time nervous about being on camera. Do I look ridiculous? Does my voice sound odd? Thank you TechSmith for kicking this issue right out of the window. We did so many videos, that now, I have no issue now being in front of a camera. Don’t get me wrong – I’ll still say and do dumb things but it no longer prevents me from being willing to be in front of a camera.
- The livestreams that I enjoy the best are when I do them with someone else. Ok, so this is not shocking to anyone that knows me. I do not gain from feeling like I’m talking at someone (especially through a screen with no communication back) vs talking with someone about any topic.
- I’ve really challenged myself to be live with these – seed only a thought or two about what I will share but really react and share with whatever comes to mind during the 30 minutes. Aside from never wanting to read a script, I believe this makes the video seem more personable.
- Impact: I have no idea if these are making a difference. Do they help anyone? Getting interaction during the event and is challenging. This is something that we continue to experiment with and track. That said, the cost is very low on my end. Another question I really should be asking, is does it hurt if I continued even if the impact is low?
