Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an after thought more and more.  So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.

This round:  Sean and Keira

Now I realize that they are young and really don’t care if mom publicly appreciates them but I’m going to anyway.

My schedule is one that I can make and some weeks are rough and some weeks I’m relaxing at home. In many ways, I feel like I’m in the sweet spot where I can be gone for several days (thanks to my husband), you know the time between constant attention and middle/high school constant events.

Now I don’t really have “working” mom guilt but I do sometimes wonder if my schedule bothers the kids. So I’ve continued to ask over the past year and a half. The responses I get remind me just how amazing they are…

What are you talking about mom? You are at my football games! I don’t care if you are at practices – Sean

I don’t mind. On our days off school, you are home and not having to work. – Keira

Mom, my school play is on Dec (date). It’s ok if you can’t make it. Oh you already took it off…awesome – Sean

I get to show my friends the cool stuff from Dublin. – Keira

The recent one that really got me was when I asked them on the way home from school if my traveling bothers them (after a particular couple of weeks):

Do you like your job? Well then, why wouldn’t you do it if it makes you happy. We’re happy that you are happy. – Sean (with Keira agreeing along)

Seriously, what kid says that? When you both are teenagers and hate me, I’m going to show you this!!!!
