Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an afterthought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.
This round: Pradeepa Narayanaswamy
I’ve known Pradeepa for many years from the Agile community. As often is the case, I can’t remember the first interaction. And doing these appreciation posts, I realize that the origin story sometimes is less important than where the story has traveled.
Over the years, I’ve had the honor of building a deeper connection with Pradeepa within our work topics but also within our lives. I was surprised and yet not (because this is exactly who she is) to receive a book in the mail from Pradeepa. Not only did she gift me her book, but she also wrote this long beautiful personalized note to me inside. The book is called, Loving Myself and You: Embracing Your Perfect Imperfections. I’m combining this appreciation with a mini little book review summary. Here are just some of the highlights:
- Pradeepa has this incredible soul that she openly shares with people. The stories contained in this book are deeply personal and thus incredibly relatable and comforting.
- Pradeepa has this ability to find the positive in whatever presents. Ok, I’ll admit that sometimes this is annoying when I want to be upset…lol. But this book truly does make you reconsider your imperfections as perfect.
- Pradeepa models always being willing to learn. About her work, her industry, her specializations, her family, her life, and herself. This book highlights that the journey is a valuable part of life. As I read, I found myself wanting to explore more, travel more, and learn more.
Thank you Pradeepa, for genuinely caring about others and yourself. You model exactly what I hope people strive towards, authentically making a difference in this world.
