Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an after thought more and more.  So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.

Llew

This round:  Llwellyn Falco

A few years ago, I gave a session about self-reflection at a conference.  Llwellyn saw me having a celebatory drink afterwards and approached me to say that he enjoyed my session.  After talking for a few minutes, we both realized that we were track producers at the upcoming Agile 2012 conference.  Since meeting Llwellyn, it is completely obvious that he goes the extra mile in everything he takes on.

For Agile 2012, he created promotion videos.  I instantly realized what a wonderful idea this was and followed his lead in 2013.  For Agile 2012, he pair reviewed all submissions to the track.  I again saw the value and and even pair reviewed with Llwellyn cross tracks for Agile 2013 submissions.  And just when I think that I’ve raised my game to match his standards, I observe him handing thank you cards to the Agile 2013 presenters on his track.  What a genuine guy!

So thank you for setting an example of going the extra mile as a track chair.  As one of the track chairs for Agile 2014, I know a few more things that I will be doing thanks to being inspired by you.

  • I also want to give profs to Llewellyn, who I met around four years ago, and I instantly knew he would be a big contributor to our industry.

Yes, Llewellyn is an innovator and he really gets Agile development more than most senior developers I know. But in my opinion what makes him so extraordinary is his collaboration skills and his heart. I am truly enriched by knowing Llewellyn and I feel grateful to call him a friend and colleague. Llewellyn Falco represents the best of us and I know we will see many more great things from him! Thank you, Llewellyn!
