Appreciation Post – Leah Breen

By July 22, 2026No Comments

Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an afterthought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.

This round:  Leah Breen

Leah is a personal friend.  I even met her when i attempted to join a mom’s group shortly after having Sean (all the way back to 2005).  Now I could appreciate Leah for a million things throughout our friendship but I’m going to focus on a recent professional aspect.

This is not new information or really new experience but I reflected on it after a recent weekend visit.  It is absolutely amazing to have a professional successful woman to discuss leadership with that is in an entirely different work community.  There is something special about a discussion that can weave our professional goals/challenges/wins with our shared personal experiences including raising our children together.  We can shortcut the conversation.  Yet, because she is in a completely different industry and role, she can provide fresh perspectives and ideas.  She can see me – my heart, my intent, my trauma, my fears and I simply feel safe to share all the things inside my head…that probably shouldn’t be said out loud often.  All while never feeling judged.

I pride myself on being the same person no matter who is in the room.  These conversations with Leah help me feel authentic and refreshed to keep moving forward.

I am a better person thanks to you my wonderful amazing friend.
