Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an afterthought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.
This round: Craft Conference & People
I was extremely fortunate to be invited back to Craft conference this year in Budapest. There is something about being at a conference with 2000 other people that just makes this extrovert smile from ear to ear. But it’s not the size that has earned this appreciation. I’m not sure this post will even come close in doing justice to the value I received that week but it is something:
- Again, I consumed too much and yet not enough langos (think fried dough). I have no shame.
- The community remains passionate, full of energy and dare I say a little sass. It was an impressive event from start to finish. Kudos to everyone that worked so hard for this event. It showed!
- My keynote – it was a long day and I didn’t speak until 6 pm. I think this is the latest I’ve done and to attempt to go up on my hands at the end of a long day, well, was a bit harder than I expected. A lesson that this might be a better opening keynote vs closing. That said, it was one of those times when you finish and you just feel connected to everyone there. I’m proud of this keynote message, twists and delivery. The conversations that happen afterwards fills my energy like nothing else.
- Sometimes feeling a bit of that imposter syndrome before I have to get on stage – keeps me humble and driven to learn. Listening to people like Kent Beck, Cat Hicks, Dave Snowden, Dan North and many more…well, I kept thinking…I am not educated nearly enough. And yet, I didn’t let it deter me and everyone was so welcoming. I’m grateful to be inspired and supported.
- Speaking of support… I probably should do a separate post just appreciating Dan North. This man has continued to amplify and support me all these years. And I feel grateful that I could recognize his impact on the main stage. And when he gave me a huge hug after and told me that I rocked it…I realized just how much his opinion and support do mean to me. There was so many people in there but he was the one that I wanted to make proud. He was the one that I wanted to live up to all of his support. He makes a difference and I’m grateful.
- Speaking of more support….Llewellyn Falco creates an amazing space to connect a community. Despite some of us only meeting, immediately we are supporting each other, showing up, exploring, whatever. I am extremely grateful for the memories of this week… thank you Llewellyn, Oliver, Jacqueline, Lada, Susan, Sara, and Balazs.
Thank you for refilling my energy and heart!
