Appreciation Post – Agile Denver

By June 22, 2025No Comments

Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an afterthought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.

This round:  Agile Denver

This is a general appreciation but also a specific intentional appreciation.  Agile Denver is a non-profit outreach organization stewarding  a vibrant agile community across the front range.

I’ve had the pleasure of being associated with Agile Denver when I  moved to Colorado in 2014.  Originally, as an attendee, speaker, sponsor and general community member.  The last two yeas, I have had the honor of being the president on the agile Denver Board of Directors.  As I am beginning to prepare for big life changes, I am only serving one term.  This means I’ll be rolling off the board this summer.  So now is a great time for me to recognize and appreciate a number of things about Agile Denver.

  • This community is full of incredible people.  Yes, the knowledge is off the chart but more importantly, people here are beyond passionate, caring and helpful.  Whether it’s in meetups, conferences, events or just interactions on slack… seriously can’t think of a single moment when I wasn’t impressed with who and how people show up for others in this community.
  • The value being offered.  Whether it was resume reviews or events, an intentional focus on creating value for people in this community is always front and center.  I get energized just be the focus, effort and engagement each and every time.
  • The people volunteering – on the board, as SIG leaders, as speakers, etc… it is truly inspiring people to experience the enormous generosity of people.  So many that I am fortunate to have now as friends.  They have contributed to my education, my mental health and challenging me to level up.  This non-profit couldn’t achieve any of the value without people dedicating their time and content.

I have no intention of distancing from Agile Denver.  They can’t get rid of me — even if they tried.  I am honored to have been a part of this organization and  beyond excited to see what they continue to do next!!

BTW: You should absolutely join us for Mile High Agile Denver 2025 on July 27th.
